MONEY SAVING CHALLENGE
My husband can hustle his butt off like a pro. He can spend with little encouragement. When it comes to saving money he admits he’s had to work hard at it.

Like most people, saving money is not always at the top of the financial priority list.
Paying bills (maybe), going on vacation, or buying the newest fishing equipment easily takes precedence.
Now that we have achieved part one of our financial freedom journey we are focused more on saving and investing our money.
What better way to motivate yourself to save than a fun money saving challenge?
I wanted to create for you a money saving challenge that is unlike any of the ones I’ve seen. You’ll save $300 before you know it.
This money saving challenge is perfect for teaching kids at a young age to save money, teenagers, and anyone who has a little creative flair in them.
START THE MONEY SAVING CHALLENGE
To start this money saving challenge get or make a money jar. If you want you can label it with what is motivating you to save.
Do you want to go on vacation, start an emergency fund, save for Christmas gifts (less than 9 months away!!!), or get out of debt?
Keep your eyes on the prize people.
If you think you’ll be prone to taking money out during this money saving challenge remember decorative duct tape is your friend.
What good is a gorgeous purse if you have no money to put into it?
GET THE COLORING PAGE PRINTABLE
Sign up to the Lucky Mojito mailing list (get money tips, recipes, and other fun stuff) and you’ll get your coloring page sent straight to your inbox.
If you’re already on the mailing list (thank you!) you should have already received your coloring page.
Now the fun begins.
MONEY SAVING CHALLENGE RULES
Print out your money saving challenge coloring page.
Each time you put a bill/bills into the money jar color in an item with the corresponding amount. The goal is to color the whole sheet as fast as possible.
Do NOT take any money out until your whole page is colored in. Once it is you’ll have $300 saved and you can do it again!
As you have more and more items colored in you may need to get creative. For example, if you have a $5 item left you could put in five singles if you don’t have a $5 bill and still color it in.
Follow me on Instagram and tag me @luckymojitos to share and see other people’s coloring page progress. I’ll also be posting my own coloring page so you can appreciate my mad coloring skills 😉
TIPS TO SUCCEED IN THE MONEY CHALLENGE
Incorporate more “no-spend” days into your life. With the weather getting nicer do more free activities like picnics, walks in the park, and at home movie nights.
Go through your house and look for things you no longer use or need. There are several places you can sell items to make money. Take that money and put it straight into your homemade money challenge jar.
Make the challenge into a friendly competition.
Brown bag your lunch a few more times this week.
Make your coffee at home instead of going out to get it.
SAVING MONEY FASTER WITHOUT SACRIFICE
Go through your existing bills and try to get as many as you can lowered:
Reduce your transportation costs by cutting your gas bill, reduce your heating bill, cut your cell phone bill, save on electricity, and slash your grocery bill.
Get money just for shopping online using eBates and other cash back sites.
Get the iBotta app and join my growing team of six to get cash back from your grocery trips without having to cut coupons. Also score a $10 signup bonus! Get more people to join our team and we’ll earn monthly bonuses even faster.
Good luck on the money saving coloring page challenge and I can’t wait to see your progress!

Love, love, love this! Making it fun and an easy way to get kids involved-genius!
thank you 🙂 I hope to have a few more designs soon for kids of different ages.
Wait, what a great idea! I love this for kids. It teaches them the responsibility and accountability of handling money.
Thank you. I plan on making some more that are made specifically for younger kids too.
I’m horrible at saving money so any tip is always appreciated!
That’s okay, you’re not the only one. Start with baby steps.
Love No Spend Days. It is sad that we have to make an effort to do that! I banned myself from Amazon for 3 months once. It was the best thing.
I know what you mean. I’m a sucker for free Prime shipping too.
This is a great way to have a family save money
I love using positive reinforcement to help make changes in my life! I currently have a colorful bullet journal to help me reach my health and fitness goals. I even have sparkly smiley face stickers! I cannot wait to do this challenge
I love that idea. Bullet journals are so popular and I feel that they would work for me because I love sparkly stickers 🙂
What a neat idea! Thanks for sharing!
This is such a creative idea. And a fun way to let the kids be a part of this as well!
Thanks. I’m working on one more for my daughter’s age too.
This is such a great idea! I love the idea that you also have a visual representation of where you are going, and how close you are to the goal. Very clever!!
We are currently working on saving as much money as we can. I went through our budget to see what we could cut out to make this easier. I was able to find some stuff!
That’s great news. Don’t underestimate the power of negotiating some of your bills too.
I love this idea, super fun and helpful
thank you!
This is such a cute and creative idea, and easy to get the whole family in on.
Great idea to save money, thanks for the tips!
You’re welcome!
