If you’re looking for a super cheap and easy gift for a teacher this is it!
This gift is perfect for the end of the year, teacher appreciation, back-to-school, the holidays, or just-because.
You might have some of the supplies in your house, but if you don’t you can get them at your local dollar store.

It cost me $7 to make two vases.
Pin for later!
PENCIL VASE SUPPLIES
1 – 7.25″ glass vase (you can use any size jar, coffee can, or vase as long as it’s almost the same height as a pencil)
3 – (16 count) boxes of pencils
Hot glue gun & glue sticks
Felt (optional)
Scissors
PENCIL VASE INSTRUCTIONS
Start making your pencil vase by hot gluing your first pencil along the length of the vase.
At first I was gluing a long line down the length of the pencil, but this is unnecessary and a waste of glue. I found placing three strips of hot glue at the top, middle and bottom of each pencil was sufficient.
Glue your pencils as close together as possible.
To ensure that the pencils stay even, glue the pencils onto the vase when it is standing upright.
If you’re not a perfectionist (or a Virgo like me) then feel free to place the pencils onto the vase with it laying down if it’s easier for you.
Once you get to the end you might need to fudge the pencil position a bit so you don’t end up with a noticeable gap.
After you’re done gluing the pencils onto your glass vase tie a ribbon around the middle into a nice bow. This will also serve as an extra way to hold the pencils together.
If you want to you can glue a round of felt onto the bottom of your vase or to prevent the vase from sliding do a round of hot glue on the bottom.
What happens if the pencils don’t stick on the vase?
At first I was getting frustrated because I would glue a few and some would come off the vase.
The trick is not more glue, but less. Trust me I know lol
When you do just the a few lines of glue you can move faster and get the pencil onto the vase before the glue starts to dry.
FINISHING YOUR PENCIL VASE
Put in fresh blooms or some fake flowers and a note that says “Thank you for helping me bloom!”
Fill with pens, pencils, markers, highlighters.
Fill with candy.
For my daughter’s teachers a friend made these cute gift card holders with her Cricut so I’ll add in a gift card for each of them.
